Thank you! I have been hitting the mullein hard this week, so I'm going to have to get out and replenish my supply.

Ive been using black cohosh, licorice, and st johns wort this past week for hormone regulation. Have to take it slow if ingesting due to interactions and side effects. I am sensitive to all intakes.

Have you found it helpful or too many side effects? Of those, I have only worked with St. John's wort myself.

my herbalist recommended those along with a whole bunch of other herbs.I'll forward you email of recs for hormone regulation. I am sensitive and allergic so i have to introduce things one at a time as opposed to have a 7-8 herbs in one tea (which was the rec) so I am doing stepwise. I have zero side effects but just want to make sure!

Thank you Amy. I love Mullein. She is the first plant medicine that I have seen heal with my own eyes. My youngest had croup and was constantly beset with respiratory illness when he was a toddler. It was very distressing and nothing worked to stop the spasmodic coughing. I found Mullein on one of my walks and IDed it with an app. When I researched its medicinal benefits effects I thought I'd try smoking my child with the smoldering leaves. A couple of rounds of breathing and the intractable coughing settled down. I couldn't believe it and thought it was a fluke but it worked every time and it works on the rest of the family whenever we have issues with coughing or even asthma attacks. It is such a beautiful and gentle plant and is very dear to me.

Wow! That's great. I have used it as tea, steams, and as a wrapper for other herbs I was burning, but not inhalationally. We've been pretty fortunate with breathing issues in our household.

This is a huge material medica +++. Having done this type of research during my herbal studies I know the amount of time you put into this. (And this is more robust than mine were, I only added the growing and harvesting and botanical info on top of the medicinal properties and uses. I really want to go back and add the magical properties and uses. Maybe I will some day.) I actually found the hardest part (we were told to use at least 3 resources for each write up) was consolidating all the different information and perspectives! Thanks for putting this out there in the world.

Thanks Chris! They do take some time. I enjoy it because it kind of feels like you get to know the plant's personality in the process. My favorite are the plants where I can find information about how multiple cultures have worked with the plant. If you haven't checked it out yet, you may be interested in the Plant Encyclopedia on my main page. It has all 6 of the plants I have written these for so far.

Lots of information here! I think my favorite use is as a candle. Love the magic instructions for harvesting. Tough to follow, though!

Thanks Mary, the candles are really easy and fun to make. And yeah, it would be a delight to gather plants in that way, but both our brains and our prudishness make it difficult these days.
